UPL: Zaga, Umony Open Account As Express Return To Winning Ways

Wednesday, February 13
Nyamityobora FC 0-2 Express FC
(Kakyeka Stadium, Mbarara)

Express FC returned to winning ways with a 2-0 victory against Nyamityobora FC in a StarTimes Uganda Premier league game played at Kakyeka Stadium.

New boys Frank Zaga Tumwesigye and Brian Umony scored a goal each in the second stanza to give Express FC their first win under new coach George Ssemwogerere.

Zaga grabbed the opener at the start of the second half when he tapped in Disan Galiwango’s cross.

Express survived Nyamityobora’s late surge before Umony capitalised on goalkeeper Hillary Jomi’s blunder at the other end to double the advantage.

The Red Eagles will have shot-stopper Mathias Muwanga to thank after denying Peter Mutebi, Saddam Maseruka and Damien Nakalema’s efforts.

This was Express’ first victory in 2019 – The team had last tasted victory in a 2-1 win over Nyamityobora (the day’s opponents, coincidentally) in the league in December 28th.

The victory takes Express to 24 points, level with Bright Stars and Kirinya Jinja SS. Express are now tenth on the 16 team log. This was the club’s sixth victory of the season.

Nyamityobora on the other hand, remain second from the bottom with 12 points from 19 games.

Nyamityobora are on a three game losing streak since beating up on Police 4-1 in their second round opener at Lugogo.
