Basketball: Robinson Opong Joins Mozambique Club


Uganda’s Robinson Opong Odoch has joined Angola’s basketball giants Ferroviario da Beira, this website has learnt.

Opong, represented Uganda at the 2017 AfroBasket in Tunisua and Senegal, is one of the three recruits Beira has signed ahead of the FIBA Africa Basketball League.

Serbian duo Bozo Djumic and Vuk Jovanovic are the other new additions.

Opong who can play as a Shooting guard or a small forward, featured for Rogers State, Obila (Spain) and Halifax Hurricanes, not to mention City Oilers.

Beira have been drawn in this year’s FIBA ABL’s Group C, where they will go up against African heavyweights Al Ahly of Egypt, Primeiro D’Agosto of Angola and REG from Rwanda from 8-10 February in the Egyptian capital of Cairo.

Beira will begin their campaign against Rwanda’s REG on February 8.
